How does one apply for a position of anew usher??
I was told that there were no bad seats by a co-worker. Not true. I bought the first 6 seats in the first row of the upper balcony and I couldn't see details nor a third of the stage. We got there early in our excitement for our first ballet, but the lady at the door rudely turned us away. It's fine if we're too early and can't go in, but politeness matters. Snack prices were okay and the dancers were beautiful, but the skewed and catywompus set for the Nutcracker was strange. We might return. idk
MoreI love the Schuster Center. We are so lucky to have such a beautiful venue in Dayton. I have seen symphonic concerts, as well as theatrical and Broadway productions, there and never been disappointed. Acoustics are great and there's not really a bad seat in the house. In my opinion, the very best seats are in the front of the loge. One of my very favorite places in Dayton.
MoreI went to see the color purple the play was great only thing I didn't like was the only props was chairs
MoreGreat place to see a show. No bad seats
Always clean, friendly staff, and the intermission snacks and drink selection is nice. The sound is also good here. The only thing I didn't care for, to "volunteer" here... they REQUIRE more commitment than a part time job or you can not volunteer. Little demanding, so I never volunteered.
MoreLove the performers Black Violins. I would give it a 5 but I do not like how seating rows are set up. I will not buy a ticket if I have to sit in middle of a one long row.
MoreI SEEN MY FAVORITE SINGER DEITRICK HADDON THE KING OF GOSPEL MUSIC, TYE TRIBBET, DONNIE,AND J MOSS AND SOOO MANY OTHERS O AND TASHA MACK AKA WENDY ROBINSON IT WAS A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE AND WELL WORTH THE $$$ AND THE THEATER WAS EXQUISITE ABSOLUTELY THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THEATER IVE BEEN TO AND IVE BEEN TO QUITE A FEW AND IF THE GOSPEL FEST. IS HELD HERE AGAIN I WILL BE THERE WAS WORTH THE TRAVEL
MoreFantastic facility. Saw the nutcracker with the family for Christmas. Very fun. We were in the top, in the cheap seats, and we could see everything quite well. I'm convinced there are no bad seats in the House. The rows are set at quite an incline so that you don't fight to see around the heads in front of you. The height made me a bit squeamish, but I got used to it.
MoreGreat place to see a show, very friendly staff and beautiful venue.
Absolutely gorgeous! A very upscale performance palace. My family has been attending events, presented at the Schuster Center, since the grand opening. Always magical.
MoreI saw a Play from the rafters. I couldn't get seats any higher without touching the ceiling. The view was excellent. The sound was spot on. The seat was a little cramped but I got what I paid for a great time.
MoreWe had great seats & the show started on time.
We attended a production of Les Miserables and it was a wonderful experience. I agree with other reviewers that the highest balcony seats are very high--if you have issues with heights stick with the lower balcony. Even at the highest seat, though, we could all see the action on stage. The ushers and staff were very pleasant and helpful, and we found our seats with no difficulty. Parking was pretty easy and convenient to the venue. The acoustics are incredible, and the general layout is beautiful. My one peeve is, I wish they did not allow beverages to be brought in during the performance; several people brought in cups of beer and the smell was off-putting and I saw some people nearly spill open cups of beer on other patrons as they were getting to their seats. That aside, we we definitely be back for future shows.
MoreI have been to many performances here and I have enjoyed it very much. I was a youth usher years ago and my mom used to work here. I highly recommend it for a lovely night out. During Christmas they have boxes with Christmas scenes, it's a beautiful site.
MoreThis is a gem in the Gem City. Dayton is lucky to have The Schuster Center for the performing arts. The acoustics are excellent no matter where you sit. I would suggest visiting the box office in the Schuster center. The purchase of tickets online add a significant fee to the cost of the tickets. There is a parking garage nearby and you might be able to find some on street parking.
MoreGreat seats any where you sat. Very professional service and very clean.
This is a remarkable place, a shining jewel in Dayton. Always an amazing experience, not a bad seat in the house!!
MoreWonderful performance of Nat king and Natile cole.
I attended a recognition celebration for years of service at my place of employment. It was fun and a joyous event.
MoreAn amazing addition to downtown Dayton. Art in the city is always a great thing. They offer a variety of shows and events that you need to see. Everyone needs a reason to get dressed up and enjoy a night out. The Benjamin & Mariam Schuster Performance Center provides just that.Check shows and times, then get out and immerse yourself in as much culture that the city can provide. Street/metered parking is free after 6pm and on weekends. But it fills up fast during events. So get there early, and check out the city before your show.
MoreWe visited this theatre for the first time a few weeks ago to see Book of Mormon, a touring broadway show that came through for just a short weekend run. It was a spontaneous evening for us as we found out Day of that they were offering a great deal for military families. We parked in their garage across the street for $8 and had an easy walk over. I will warn you that the lines can get pretty long upon entering. This is mostly due to their bag searches. So ladies, if you can go without a purse, do it. Iβm so grateful I just happened to do that. This theatre is a decent size as far as number of seats. But I appreciate that the balcony wasnβt so far back that it was impossible to have a clear view.
MoreBeautiful facility. Friendly staff. Everyone was kind and helpful. The show was absolutely outstanding. Every aspect of it was perfect. I can't say enough about this excellent experience.
MoreRENT What a great performance. We saw this 20 years ago in NY. Very comparable. Added pictures of the ceiling. What a beautiful place.
MoreSuch an incredible venue! Saw "Rent" tonight and if you can get tickets....it is soooo worth going. Take kleenex.....
MoreThis beautiful venue is Daytonβs finest ! I LOVE all of the productions and events i have attended here. The staff are very nice and helpful and it is so beautiful inside! We are so lucky to have this in our city. Donβt hesitate to go ! You will love it! Lots of easy parking for events .
MoreWyclef Jean just rocked the house! The Dayton Philharmonic rocked as well. Wyclef took us to the hood, the Caribbean and to church. We had a great time!
MoreGreat place to watch a performance, the acoustics of this place are magnificent. Just wish the seats more comfortable and they need to put your seat number on the back of the chair not on the bottom of the seat(very hard to see)
MoreWhat a wonderful experience! We saw Sponge Bob and though I was apprehensive of this musical, it was great! The acting, singing, dancing, and set were amazing. Best of all, Sponge Bob wasn't irritating as he is in the TV show. The musical had a great message and was very well done.
MoreFantastic acoustics, convenient and inexpensive parking. If you wish to dine at Citilights, make reservations in advance.
MoreEvery event we attend Is a new experience in grace and beauty. Love the venue.
Concert tonight was fantastic. I wish more people would support the Philharmonic. We have such wonderful preforming arts but without support it is difficult to sustain the quality we have now. Those who attened this weekends concert could not have ask for a better way to spend the evening.
MoreGood venue, enjoyable atmosphere. Staff was great.
This theater is beautiful, and has pleasing architecture. There are about 4 tiers of seating, and the seats are mostly comfortable. My visit was for "On Your Feet", and I enjoyed my experience. I would watch another show here when I get another chanceI wasn't sure where parking was, so I parked a couple blocks away and walkedMy only critique is that some of the edge seats near the orchestra are hard to get to without squeezing by the full row, and that leg room is good while sitting, but doesn't give much room to squeeze past
MoreI went to see SpongeBob Square Pants. It was a cute show. I didn't think it was geared for the very young, it was very loud and lots of flashing lights. The adults around me seemed to enjoy it. Choreography was great, very bright costumes and a lot of energy. I wouldnt go see it again, just wasnt for me. I will be watching Rent in January and hope to have a better review.
MoreWalking through the outside doors, a person is instantly immersed in the beauty of The Schuster! Then one walks through the doors of the Philharmonic Hall! When the lights are dimmed for the performance, a very special feeling of oneness with the environment, stars sparkling from the sky entails! The program begins and the beauty of music, singing/dancing and the arts is emotionally overwhelming! The Benjamin and Marian Schuster Center experience is different and totally enjoyable each and every time! Love it!
MoreThe wyclef show was amazing!!But the location couldn't b better. What better place to see it than the best place in Dayton for shows concerts and just any public event in general! Not a bad seat in the house! Luv it always thank's Shusters!!
MoreWent to see a show this weekend. We always love going to the Schuster Center to see off-broadway things. So far we've sat in the 3rd balcony as well as the 2nd row and both seats were wonderful! The sound and lights are always great and the casts really put on a great performance. Looking forward to making this a regular date night!
MoreThis place is absolutely wonderful. We won the lottery to get 3 tickets very front row for RENT. I cried so hard and it moved we incredibly. The voices were spectacular and the employees were phenomenal. Thanks Schuster, for yet again another tour de force of a show.
MoreGreat venue, they usually serve alcohol, pop, and snacks in the main lobby before most shows and they allow you to bring them in the theatre. During Christmas time they decorate the main lobby with old front store toy displays, it's really neat!
MoreSuch an excellent establishment! I'm in love with the arts & this is always a great family experience!
MoreExcellent venue! Difficult to get out of after a show, though-- really wish they had more/wider stairs, but that can't be helped since the building has already been built!
MoreThe building is beautiful and the staff was courteous. My girlfriend and I went to a Peanuts-themed Christmas jazz show and everything was great. Despite being a minute after showtime, there was an abundance of staff directing and helping us find our seats. We also were credited the purchase price of an unused ticket for the show toward another sometime next year. Only warning would be to have your ticket out and ready when finding your seat. Will be coming back.
MoreBeautiful place and built for proper sound. Friendly staff and volunteers.
Living in Dayton area we are so lucky to have such a wonderful venue like the Schuster
MoreI have been to the Shuster for a lot of shows including Operas, the Philharmonic, & Broadway Shows. Tonight we went to see The Book Of Mormon with a group of 12 family & friends. Some of us this was the second time seeing it others were first timers. It was just as good the second time as the first.
MoreTop-notch facilities! Great programming & the staff is phenomenal!
Beautiful venue. Great acoustics. Fantastic sight lines from everywhere except the boxes and front seats of the gallery.
MoreWent to see Color Purple The Musical. Excellent show and great seats!!
Beautiful space for performance. Easy access in and out for parking.
Purchased 3 "CATS" tickets for Sunday, May 31st. They postponed the venue for mid-July. I requested and was denied a full refund. The person I 'chatted" with advised me to sell my tickets. Why? Realistically, there will not be sufficient social distancing in that theater. Not acceptable!!! Had to give it a one-star. A no-star was offered.
